Short term memory (if there is such a thing) is composed of 5 units, plus or minus two. Hence, to make a funny, lists have to be 4 or less, preferably 3. Any more would allow previous information to be displaced, taking away from the humor.

Lovely... Just Absolutely Lovely

Welp, in the words of Jello Biafra, "Too drunk to fuck"... The significance of these words relevent to my captains log would prove to be quite important if taking triple sec into consideration. WOAH WOAH! WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT?! Perhaps it is just human nature to desire to find symbolism within everyday normal occurances. For example, there is this girl at school- one of the RADDEST lookin girls I have ever seen. I mean, this chick could rival Winona (with Ziyi Zhang in a close second) in my repertoire of lovely females. {And please, let us not argue over semantics lest I feel the recalcitrant urge to defecate upon your linens.} Anyhow... OH yeah, raddest girl. So I'm sittin on the shuttle from Regents to Price Center in the very back where the whole row is a seat in the very center. I'm lookin around like I normally do, considering I don't have many buddies at ucsd, when what should happen? My eyes cease on this amazingly darling girl. {I talk about her on my angelfire/lumardor site: shameless plug} My mouth just about fell to the floor. She has these long bangs, but short in back, with this lip piercing slightly askant. I dug her whole quasi punk representation. Damnit, I get off track. So to end my non-climactic story, I see her around campus quite often. Is this a sign that I should strike up a conversation with her, or perhaps I'm just being an ignorant fool like most people and make too much outta nothin. Okay I REALLY don't make too much outta this certain instance, although my lil rant would indicate otherwise. I do however feel like a stalker cuz everytime I see this chick I totally stare at her like I'm a puma or some shyte.

So they say the computer was made in the image of the human. However, devising a system from a bottom up model from artificial intellegence is not a suitable method to mimicing a human in it's intirety. Certainly it would initially seem the most likely solution to solve a difficult problem. However, a computer is based primarially of only internal representations, whereas humans rely heavily on external representations. The computer is devoid of any somatosensory receptors not being able to dectect obvious things in the surrounding environment. Sure humans and computers are simillar in the fact that they are both symbol processors, however the heirarchy of cognition within a human, be it the mind, the brain, whatever, is not composed of symbols which a computer is. The computer is programmed with (for lack of a better term) programs. Its entire purpose is to process symbols based on input received and its relative program to those inputs. However, all that is transformed is syntax, sans all semantics. To create a computer in the image of a human requires insite into what is the whole basis of being human. Where does cognition arise? Would we be capable of higher cortico cognitive processes if we were to only rely on our internal representations and our interactions with the enviorment, without history or culture, or even social interaction? It appears that intellegence and higher cognitive processes (which seperates us from the rest of the animal kingdom, and even within our own class and phylus or whatever) is propigated through time by means of culture and history, and even artifacts. Some might call a midieval man a creiton, devoid of any common intellect by our standards. However, biologically our brains are not so different, rather it is the cultural knowledege which has been passed down through time which allows us to think on higher levels since most of the "grunt" work has already been taken care of. The invention of math and its theorems led to the advent of scientific theories and such, leaving its successors to follow through. It would be tedious and imbecilic to reinvent the such things, just to progress. The same is true with artifacts. It becomes cognitively less expensive to distrubute some of the cognitive task to an object, say a calculator, or a ruler or the like. HOLY SHIT what am I talking about.. Dude, I'm outty 5000...
